Brazil Sao Paulo mulls agchem bans
The Brazilian state of Sao Paulo’s capital city’s legislature is mulling the banning of several pesticide active ingredients. Proposed legislation PL 01-00891/2013 seeks a ban on the sale and use of 19 ais and any organochlorine pesticide that has been prohibited in the country of its origin. Proposed bans include for: the insecticides abamectin, acephate and carbofuran; the herbicides, glyphosate and paraquat; and the fungicide, thiram. The pesticides include those under national reassessment by the country’s toxicology authority, the Anvisa (Agrow passim).
