Spain amends committee on EU traceability
The Spanish government cabinet has this month approved a Ministry of Agriculture proposal to alter the structure of the National Phytosanitary Committee. The change will see the Committee’s competencies extended, and “facilitate” the fulfilment of EU regulatory requirements on traceability and food hygiene. The committee will gain a section dedicated to traceability and food hygiene, and will establish an agricultural exploitation registry and good practice guide for the production and supply chain. The measures will be developed over the course of this year and become fully operational in 2015.
