Rainbow wins patent for 2,4-D/glyphosate formulation
China's State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) has approved a patent application submitted by Chinese agrochemical company Shandong Weifang Rainbow Chemical for a water-soluble granule formulation mixture of the herbicides, 2,4-D and glyphosate. The company claims that the formulation solves “the insufficiency of purely using glyphosate series products or 2,4-D series products”. It can be used against a variety of annual or perennial weeds. Last year, the SIPO approved a Weifang Rainbow Chemical patent for the preparation of a water-dispersible granule formulation of the herbicide, 2,4-D salt (Agrow No 666, p 2).
