Sumitomo to merge Mexican operations

Sumitomo Chemical is to merge the Mexican business of its US-based post-harvest pesticide operation, Pace International (Seattle, Washington), with its biorational products subsidiary, Valent de Mexico (Guadalajara), from April 1st. The merger will be accomplished through the creation of a new post-harvest division within Valent de Mexico. The move will enable Pace to expand its operational strength and geographic coverage while maintaining customer relationships, the company points out. Pace was acquired by Sumitomo's US-based subsidiary, Valent BioSciences (Libertyville, Illinois), in December 2012 (Agrow No 655, p 2).
