France bans MON810 maize
The French Ministry of Agriculture has banned the sale, use and cultivation of Monsanto's genetically modified insect-resistant MON810 maize. The order has been published in the country's official journal. The Ministry published the draft decree last month subject to public consultation, which was open until March 9th (Agrow No 683, p 12). The intention was to impose the prohibition before the start of the planting season after mid-March.
