US judge gives litigants time to settle salmon case

A US federal judge has extended a stay of a closely-watched case involving allegations that the US EPA failed to protect endangered salmon from six insecticides, agreeing to give the Agency, the environmental plaintiffs and industry interveners through April 7th to continue settlement discussions. The order by Judge Thomas Zilly suggests that the parties involved with the case are optimistic about settling the complaint, which was first filed by the Northwest Center for Alternatives to Pesticides (NCAP) in November 2010.
