US EPA to approve Arysta's Kasumin 2L
The US EPA proposes to register Arysta LifeScience's bactericide, Kasumin 2L (kasugamycin 2.3%), for the control of fireblight (Erwinia amylovora) on pome fruit. It also controls walnut blight (Xanthomonas campestris pv juglandis) on walnuts and bacterial speck (Pseudomonas syringae pv tomato) and bacterial spot (X campestris pv vesicatoria) on fruiting vegetables. Arysta introduced the product in Canada last year (Agrow No 659, p 25). Kasumin 2L has been subject to emergency exemptions in the US state of Michigan for the past five years for the control of streptomycin-resistant fireblight (Agrow No 683, p 25). The US approval decision is open to public comment until April 17th.
