Incotec/Zen-Noh rice seed treatment deal
Dutch seed treatment company Incotec's Japanese subsidiary, Incotec Japan, and the Japanese federation of agricultural co-operative associations, Zen-Noh, have agreed to introduce Incotec's proprietary ThermoSeed treatment to the Japanese rice market. The system uses hot, humid air to control seed-borne diseases. It will allow growers to produce rice in "a more sustainable way using less plant protection products", the companies point out. The system has been used commercially in several European countries for many years on wheat. The partners have been testing the technology on rice in Japan for a number of years. They have agreed to extend their co-operation to other cereal crops.
