EU best practice for REACH evaluations
EU authorities have agreed on recommendations to improve harmonisation of evaluations carried out for the EU Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals (REACH) Regulation. Agrochemical intermediates and co-formulants are covered by the Regulation. A “best practice” document on the interaction between evaluating member states and registrants has been agreed by the European Commission, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) and member states. Registrants are encouraged to be proactive and, in cases where there are many registrants for one substance, to co-ordinate communications through one representative. The recommendations are based on experience gained from the first year of evaluations in 2012/13. The document is on the ECHA website: http://echa.europa.eu.
