EU mulls GM soybean co-existence distances

Isolation distances would be a feasible and effective means of ensuring the co-existence of genetically modified, conventional and organic soybean crops in the EU, says the European Co-existence Bureau (ECoB). It considers that 5 m between fields is enough to stay below the 0.9% limit for adventitious presence of GM soybeans in non-GM crops due to cross-pollination. A distance of 10 m would achieve a lower threshold of 0.1%.
