BASF highlights Initium mode of action
BASF researchers have confirmed findings that its fungicide, ametoctradin (trade-marked as Initium), inhibits fungal activity by binding to the stigmatellin sub-site in the respiratory complex III of fungi. The company says that the research shows a unique mode of action for the active ingredient, making it the only existing fungicide in this classification and therefore not cross-resistant with other commercial fungicides. That makes it an ideal tool for managing fungal resistance in specialty crops, BASF adds. The pyrimidylamine ai received its first national approval of more than 50 in Romania in 2010 (Agrow No 583, p 24), with the most recent approval being granted in India on grapevines.
