Canada to pilot agchem and seed bag collection
The Canadian industry's waste stewardship scheme, CleanFarms, is to carry out a pilot collection and disposal programme for empty pesticide and seed bags. The pilot will be carried out between May and September in parts of Ontario and Quebec to determine the feasibility of a permanent programme. It will cover multi-walled paper, plastic and aluminium pesticide bags and multi-walled paper and polywoven plastic seed bags. The CleanFarms scheme already collects and recycles pesticide and fertiliser containers and unwanted pesticides and veterinary medicines.
