Syngenta ahead in first quarter
Growth in most regions boosted Syngenta's crop protection sales by 3.8% to $3,244 million in the first quarter of 2014. Revenues grew by about 6% at constant exchange rates (CER). The company posted a double-digit gain in Europe and a similar decline in North America. Most product categories recorded higher sales, with the exception of seed treatments. "We have made a solid start to the year despite adverse weather conditions in North America," says chief executive officer Mike Mack.
