DuPont agchem sales up 3% in Q1
DuPont's crop protection sales rose by 3% to $1,100 million in the first quarter of 2014. Growth was particularly strong in Latin America, where sales rose by 60% over the same period last year. Intense insect pressure in maize and soybeans boosted demand for the insecticides, chlorantraniliprole (trade-marked as Rynaxypyr), Avatar (indoxacarb) and Lannate (methomyl), the company points out. However, cold and wet weather in North America, along with high stock levels, resulted in reduced herbicide sales compared with a strong first quarter in 2013.
