EU prov approvals to be extended for two new ais
The European Commission plans to grant a further two-year extension to existing national provisional approvals for Dow AgroSciences’ fungicide, meptyldinocap, and Syngenta’s herbicide, pinoxaden. More time is needed to assess additional information requested from the applicants, the Commission says. Provisional approvals last for three years and had previously been extended in 2010 and 2012 for the two ais (Agrow No 638, p 9). Meptyldinocap is approved in 14 member states, and pinoxaden in 24. The Commission’s proposals were supported by the EU Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health in March and require publication in the EU Official Journal before coming into force.
