Brazil issues agchem environmental evaluation guide
Brazilian authorities have issued a manual detailing environmental evaluation requirements for pesticide registration applicants. The Ministry of the Environment’s protection agency, the Ibama, claims the country’s pesticide regulations are among the most advanced in the world, and “consequently”, complex. The manual provides a “step-by-step guide” for preparing applications for environmental assessments of pesticides. That guide is composed of two stages: an electronic register and submission of documents; and how to contact the co-ordinator general of chemical substance evaluations to monitor the processing of the application to completion. The manual can be obtained by sending an email to: firstname.lastname@example.org. The online version is available at: http://www.ibama.gov.br/qualidade-ambiental/manual-de-procedimento-para-registro-de-agrotoxicos.
