Mexico advances agchem container collections
The Mexican Ministry of Agriculture invested over 20.5 million pesos ($1.6 million at the current rate) for the construction of 23 pesticide container disposal stations in December. The country already had 693 such stations, receiving 578 tonnes of containers for recycling or disposal in 2009 by early December, the Ministry says. The network includes administration by companies, local authorities and farmer associations. The Ministry expects some 200 tonnes to be collected in “the next few months”. The Mexican authorities have trained over 4,000 users and staff in GAP, including the management of empty containers.
