Mexico approves 8 GMO imports

Mexico has approved the import of eight genetically modified crops for use in food and feed processing. They included four for maize, two of cotton and one each for soybeans and alfalfa, while six were for multi-trait events, the Mexican biosafety association, the Agrobio, reports. The Ministry of Health’s federal commission for health risk protection, the Cofepris, approved the import of the products in late January for five companies: Monsanto, Bayer CropScience, Dow AgroSciences, DuPont seed subsidiary Pioneer Hi-Bred International, and Syngenta.
