EU widens scope for ai re-applications
The European Commission has enabled more active ingredients to be eligible for “accelerated” procedures covering re-applications for EU approval. Such practices were introduced in January 2008 for ais in the EU review that had not yet been successful in gaining re-registration and a listing in Annex I of the EU agrochemical registration Directive (91/414 – Agrow No 536, p 5). Ais in the third and fourth rounds of the review were eligible if they had not been included in Annex I by December 31st 2008. This date has been extended to December 31st 2009. The change is consistent with earlier decisions to extend the time period allowed for completing the EU review, the Commission points out.
