Brazil Anvisa OKs biocontrol agents
The Brazilian toxicology authorities have recommended the registration of two insect biological control agents. The national health surveillance agency, the Anvisa, has given the go-ahead for use of the parasatoid wasps, Coesia flavipes and Trichogramma galloi, for the control of sugar cane borers ( Diatraea saccharalis). This is an early stage in the approval process. The recommendations are subject to a 30-day public comment period from January 20th, and would go to the Ministry of Agriculture for approval.
