Argentina computerises agchem data register
Argentina’s computerised agrochemical data system has been launched. The issue of Resolution 30/2010 by the national animal and plant health inspection service, the Senasa, earlier this month brought the system for agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals and foodstuffs (Sigafa) into force. It will update information on registrations, registration holders, and approved product extensions. All such existing data will be imported onto the computerised system. The Sigafa allows registration applicants to follow a product’s progress at each stage of the approval process, while guaranteeing data confidentiality. It grants prompt access to statistics and procedures from the Senasa’s pesticide and veterinary products office, the Dapfyv. The Senasa presented a draft of the Sigafa to the agrochemical industry in 2008 ( Agrow No 553, p 18).
