China's agchem production up 4% in 2009
The total output value of China's agrochemical industry reached Yuan 132,030 million ($19,369 million at the current rate) in 2009, up 4.4% over the previous year, according to figures from the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association, reported in the national newspaper, the AgriGoods Herald. China produced 2.3 million tonnes of agrochemicals in 2009, an increase of 12.3% over 2008. Investment in pesticide manufacturing was up by over 30%. The Association also noted that 2010 would be a “problematic” yet “hopeful” year for the Chinese pesticide market.
