Agriphar to acquire Geopharm
Belgian agrochemical company Agriphar (Ougree) has agreed to acquire Greek company Geopharm (Athens). Geopharm is a leading pesticide distributor in Greece, Agriphar says. It has a formulation facility, several repacking lines and warehouses across the country. Geopharm will maintain its management team. Agriphar chief executive officer Dirk Barrie and managing director Georges Neumann welcome the deal. “This acquisition fits with Agriphar’s strategic plan to focus on growth potentials worldwide,” Mr Neumann says. “It strengthens our position around the Mediterranean,” he adds. Agriphar acquired Italian pesticide supplier Terranalsi in 2008 ( Agrow No 553, p 2). It exports to 130 countries and has enjoyed double-digit annual growth in the past decade. Geopharm has 17 agronomists among its 42 staff. The companies expect the deal to go through by the end of March.
