CLA seeks role in US polar bear suit

The US industry association, CropLife America, has applied to intervene in a lawsuit against the EPA over its alleged failure to address the risks of pesticides to polar bears and their habitat. The Center for Biological Diversity filed the lawsuit under the Endangered Species Act in December ( Agrow No 582, p 16). The imposition of restrictions on pesticides without evidence of harm to polar bears would “ignore FIFRA [Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act] and result in an uncertain registration process”, CLA maintains.
