Anhui Guoxing starts work on paraquat plant
Construction work began on Chinese agrochemical company Anhui Guoxing Biochemical's 20,000 tonnes/year paraquat herbicide manufacturing plant last month. Investment in the project is around Yuan 596 million ($87.4 million), and once capacity is reached it is expected to bring in annual sales of Yuan 1,080 million ($158.4 million). Together with the company’s 50,000 tonnes/year pyridine intermediate plant, which has been approved for construction, the project will form the world's first fully integrated pyridine industry supply chain, Chinese state media report. Anhui Guoxing Biochemical is owned by the Chinese pesticide and fertiliser company, Nanjing Redsun. Last year, Redsun issued shares to Nanjing No 1 Pesticide in return for ownership of the latter's wholly owned subsidiaries, including Anhui Guoxing Biochemical ( Agrow No 570, p 5).
