US approval for Pacific's grape pheromone
The US EPA has issued a one-year approval for US pheromone company Pacific Biocontrol’s (Vancouver, Washington) Isomate-EGVM ((E,Z)-7,9-dodecadien-1-yl acetate) for the control of European grapevine moths ( Lobesia botrana). The USDA called for an expedited review of the approval application after the pest made its first US appearance in the Napa Valley last year. Isomate-EGVM acts as a mating disruptant. It will be applied to grapevines as a slow-release twist-tie dispenser. The EPA granted the registration at the same time as issuing a 30-day public comment period, which runs until April 3rd.
