Draft agchem use rules advance in Brazil
Draft legislation in Brazil to create a “national plan for pesticide risk management in agriculture” entered a 30-day public comment period on March 11th. It aims to expand risk management for pesticide use, “guaranteeing food crop products’ and environmental safety”, the Ministry of agriculture’s pesticide office co-ordinator general Luís Rangel says. Enforcement rules, as well as education and training of users, are the major themes of the proposed regulation. “We want to ensure the use and extension of GAP and correct product use,” Mr Rangel adds.
