Milenia fined in Brazil for illegal agchems
Makhteshim-Agan Industries’ (MAI) Brazilian subsidiary Milenia Agrociências has been fined for five cases of impure pesticide in Brazil. It is also set to lose the right to sell one of its pesticide products. The national health surveillance agency, the Anvisa, fined the company R$2.4 million ($1.3 million) earlier this month. The action followed the seizure of five products for suspected impurities late last year ( Agrow No 571, p 17). The company has since admitted that the products had unauthorised changes in their formulations, the agency says.
