Colombia fines Monsanto sub over GM cotton claims
Colombia’s regulatory authority for genetically modified crops has fined Monsanto subsidiary Compañía Agrícola Colombiana (CAC - Bogota) Peso 515 million ($275,300). The Colombian plant and animal health technology corporation, the ICA, charged the company following a claim from the Colombian cotton confederation, the Conalgodon. It involved Monsanto’s GM insect-resistant and glyphosate-tolerant Bollgard II/Roundup Ready Flex (DP 164 B2RF) cotton. The Conalgodon claimed that promotional material exaggerated its effectiveness.
