EU and Argentina settle WTO GMO dispute
The EU and Argentina have reached a settlement in the long-running dispute over the commercialisation of genetically modified crops in the EU. Argentina had complained to the WTO about delays in the EU registration process and bans on EU-approved crops by several EU member states. The settlement will establish bi-annual meetings between the EU and Argentina to discuss agricultural biotechnology and related trade issues. It is similar to the settlement reached between the EU and Canada in the same WTO case last year ( Agrow No 572, p 11).
