Canadians dispose of old pesticides
Farmers in the Canadian province of British Columbia disposed of over 3.3 tonnes of obsolete pesticides during a collection programme last year. That brought the total collected since 2005 to 83 tonnes. The programme was co-sponsored by various federal and provincial agencies. The industry association, CropLife Canada, established an obsolete pesticide and container collection initiative, CleanFARMS, earlier this year ( Agrow No 585, p 17).
