Dow opens Brazilian maize R&D facility
Dow AgroSciences has opened a maize research and development facility in Brazil. The focus of the Sorriso, Mato Grosso state-based centre will be the improvement and conversion of traits, Dow says. It is to develop pest and disease-resistant maize hybrids adapted to the major agricultural state and other tropical regions, as well as research soybean and sorghum varieties. Products are to be developed for the Bolivian, Argentine and Paraguayan markets. The facility is the company’s first such outside the US, Dow says.
