Regulation 1107/2009 yet to inspire confidence

Despite industry concerns about the implementation of EU agrochemical registration regulation 1107/2009, Wolfgang Reinert of the European Commission’s Health and Consumers Directorate-General (DG SANCO) gave a positive introduction at the Informa Registration of Agrochemical in Europe conference in Brussels this month. The first approvals for new active ingredient applications evaluated under Regulation 188/2011, which covers ais that were not on the market two years after the old EU agrochemical registration Directive (91/414) came into force, are almost finished with three remaining under peer review. For new ais under the Regulation 1107/2009, no major problems have been flagged, he added.
