Syngenta opens seed R&D facility in S Africa
Syngenta has opened a seed care research facility in Brits, South Africa. The Africa Middle East Seed Care Institute aims to develop and test seed treatment and protection technologies. The facility would be responsible for seed safety testing, seed preparations for trials, the analysis of treated seeds, formulation development and “application and plantability testing”, as well as “Take Care” training, covering stewardship and safety, South African business and economy newswire Engineering News reports. Syngenta has other such facilities in Switzerland, the US, Canada, China, Ukraine and Argentina, while others are planned to be set up in Singapore and Mexico in 2014, Hungary, Russia and Australia in 2015, and Kenya and India in 2016, it reportedly says.
