Syngenta fined over US labelling violation
Syngenta is to pay a $50,100 penalty following an agreement with the US EPA over a pesticide labelling violation. The case concerns the company’s sale of the fungicide, Quilt Xcel (azoxystrobin + propiconazole), to the US distributor, Crop Production Services (Tangent, Oregon). Syngenta is responsible for providing approved labels to companies that package and/or distribute its products, the EPA points out. "Mislabelled pesticides are dangerous because they may display incorrect warnings and application instructions," says EPA pesticide unit manager Kelly McFadden.
