Greece to up agchem residue testing on organic produce

Greece has a comprehensive system in place covering all stages of production, preparation and distribution of organic crop products. However, sampling for pesticide residues and random inspections at operators were among shortcomings identified by the European Commission’s Food and Veterinary Office’s most recent audit. It calls on Greece to ensure that sampling for pesticide residues is improved, especially with regard to sealing, storage and transport of laboratory samples. The Greek authorities say that they have improved guidance for inspectors and auditors on the issue.
