BASF debuts Nealta insecticide in US
BASF has introduced the acaricide, Nealta (Otsuka Chemical's cyflumetofen), for use on tree nuts (including almonds and pistachios), grapevines, strawberries, apples and pears in the US. The EPA proposed the approval of the cyflumetofen-based acaricides, Nealta and Sultan (for ornamentals), in March (Agrow No 684, p 24). Nealta provides residual control of mites at all life stages, BASF points out. With a unique mode of action not found in any other acaricides in the US, Nealta is highly effective against mites that have developed resistance to other products, the company adds. Nealta is "complementary" with predatory mites and beneficial insects.
