Australia to ban most fenthion uses

The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) proposes to ban most uses of the organophosphate insecticide, fenthion, because of concerns over effects on human health and the environment. The only two products left on the market would be Bayer CropScience's Lebaycid Insecticide Spray and Amalgamated Pest Control's Amalgamated Pest Control Fenthion 1% Dust Insecticide. All uses of Lebaycid would be cancelled except as a post-harvest treatment of tropical and sub-tropical fruit with inedible peel.
