Canada to approve Valent seed treatments
The Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has proposed the full registration of Sumitomo Chemical subsidiary Valent USA Corporation's fungicidal seed treatment, Metlock (Kureha's metconazole), for use on maize, wheat, canola, rapeseed and carinata. It has also proposed the conditional registration of the insecticide/fungicide seed treatments, Nipsit Suite Cereals OF Seed Protectant and Nipsit Suite Canola Seed Protectant (both metconazole + metalaxyl + clothianidin). Metalaxyl is registered as a seed treatment on the proposed crops and clothianidin is conditionally approved for as a seed treatment on all the proposed crops except wheat, the PMRA notes. The products provide broad-spectrum control of early-season seed- and soil-borne diseases and suppression or control of wireworms on wheat and flea beetles on canola, the Agency adds. The proposal is open to public comment until July 7th.
