Expanded EU rules for biocide product renewals
New EU procedures come into force on June 3rd covering the renewal of biocidal product approvals that were originally authorised under the mutual recognition system. The rules were drawn up to cover cases where applicants had already gained the first approval in a member state, but then asked other member states to recognise this authorisation without repeating the assessment (Agrow No 686, p 8). They supplement provisions in the existing EU biocidal products Regulation (528/2012), which cover the renewal of product approvals granted by just one member state. Biocidal products include non-crop pesticides.
