EFSA to gather experts on multiple chemical exposure
The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) is inviting experts to discuss the development of new approaches to the assessment of combined exposure to multiple chemicals, including pesticides. Using methods originally developed by the US EPA and the WHO, the Authority is seeking to produce harmonised risk assessment practices and guidance for the EU. The work includes ongoing projects on the assessment of cumulative effects of pesticide residues (Agrow No 680, p 8) and the combined toxicity of pesticides in bees (Agrow No 668, p 7). The EFSA will hold a scientific colloquium on September 11th-12th and participants must register before June 20th. Details are on the EFSA’s website at: http://www.efsa.europa.eu/en/events/event/140911.htm.
