Chile biotech adoption to benefit growers

The adoption of genetically modified maize would benefit Chilean farmers to the tune of some $20-76 per ha, a 2012 study claims. That would include reduced pesticide use in most scenarios. Researchers from the Chile University of Talca’s agrarian economics department calculated the gains from three hypothetical scenarios involving insect-resistant Bt maize, herbicide-tolerant Roundup Ready maize, and stacked Bt Roundup Ready maize.
