BASF Brazil plants to come online this year
BASF’s two new agrochemical formulation plants in Brazil are on schedule to be operational this year, national business newspaper Valor Economico reports. The first is expected to open between July and August, and the other in December BASF crop protection division president Markus Heldt told the newspaper. The company is investing some €50 million ($68 million) in the ventures. The plants will be based at the company’s complex in Guaratingueta, and include a formulation unit for its fungicide, fluxapyroxad (trade-marked as Xemium), and another for the herbicide, Heat (saflufenacil – trade-marked as Kixor – Agrow No 666, p 2). BASF is further expanding its synthesising facility for the fungicide, boscalid, the report adds. Production will be targeted at export as well as Brazilian markets.
