US exemption sought for propazine on cotton

The US EPA has received an emergency exemption request from the Texas Department of Agriculture to allow the use of Albaugh's herbicide, Milo-Pro (propazine), to treat up to 3 million acres (1.2 million ha) of cotton to control glyphosate-resistant Palmer amaranth (Amaranthus palmeri). The applicant cites the lack of suitable alternatives to control the weed and the potential for significant economic losses. The application is open to public comment until July 3rd.
