EU to consult on ED strategy
The European Commission says that it is about to launch a public consultation on different options for a strategy on dealing with endocrine disruptors (EDs). The Commission came under pressure from EU Environment Ministers in June, when the French delegation, supported by Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Poland and Sweden, urged it to press on with work on developing criteria for identifying EDs and a “new strategy for EU action”. The Commission has already missed the end-of-2013 deadline for coming up with scientific criteria for potential EDs among agrochemicals and biocides (Agrow passim). It told Ministers that work was “well under way” and that the consultation document would be issued “in the coming days”.
