Sigatoka returns to Brazil MG state

Several areas of the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso have become re-infested with the banana disease, black sigatoka (Mycosphaerella fijiensis). The Ministry of Agriculture has revoked the 2008 recognition of the state's disease-free status. Mato Grosso’s superintendent of agriculture requested the move after several incidences of the disease were found in areas previously considered free of sigatoka.
