Non-GM oilseed rape destroyed in France

A group of activists destroyed nine plots of field trials for oilseed rape produced through mutagenesis in Ox in the Haute-Garonne region of France in June, which they claimed contained “hidden GMOs [genetically modified organisms]”. The trials were being conducted by the inter-professional technical centre oilseeds and hemp, the Cetiom. The centre said that the activists are trying to intimidate the agricultural world and prevent access to innovations. Adding that the reapers are trying to stop progress, it said that the vandalism is even more outrageous as farmers need to find solutions in their fight against weeds. Field trials by the Cetiom were also destroyed in May in Charente-Maritime and in April in Lorraine.
