Spain grants emergency insecticide approvals
Spain has granted short-term emergency use approval for certain formulations of chlorpyrifos and thiacloprid insecticides. The authorisations are for 25% chlorpyrifos formulations and 48% thiacloprid. The regional government of Aragon requested the Ministry of Agriculture approve the products due to the absence of controls on the market against Mediterranean flatheaded rootborers (Capnodis tenebrionis) on almonds. The chlorpyrifos authorisation began on July 15th and ends on November 11th, while that for thiacloprid runs from July 1st to September 30th.
