New EU review regulation in force in March?:
The European Commission was aiming to implement the regulation for future rounds of the EU review of existing active ingredients on March 1st 2000. As Agrow went to press, the regulation was due to be published in the EU Official Journal, having been cleared by the EU Standing Committee on Plant Health at the end of 1999. The delay to the regulation, which was originally expected to be in force last October, was due to the transfer of pesticide regulation responsibilities to the EU Health and Consumer Protection Directorate (Agrow No 338, p 7). The regulation comprises a second review list of 148 ais and a call for notification of support for all remaining ais.
