Monsanto investing in French seed sites

Monsanto is investing around €137 million ($187 million) in the expansion of two seed facilities in France over the period 2013-14. Of that, €75 million ($102 million) has been invested in its maize seed production facility at Trebes and €62 million ($85 million) at its Peyrehorade research station and centre of maize production and seed packaging. "They are part of a comprehensive approach under which Monsanto intends to invest €500 million [$683 million] for seed production in France, Hungary, Romania, Turkey, and other east European countries over the next ten years," says the president of Monsanto's French operations, Monsanto SAS, Catherine Lamboley.
